Overview:
Bio–oil was founded in 1986 after many years of clinical research by German cosmetic scientist, Dieter Beier. The motive behind the invention is to develop a skin care product that was oil based without oxygen but left the skin with vitamin and moisture. Bio–oil’s effectiveness is based on one of its primary ingredient called Purcellin oil, this oil was created to mimic the effects of green glands on ducks as the non greasy layers on ducks is brought about by the secretion of oil from the green gland helping the duck to swim effectively.
Bio oil is marketed as a skin care cream, but has also been used in the treatment of stretch marks and scars and is most well known for its solution to revitalizing sudden aged and dry skin. The formulation is marketed to be use on face and other parts of the body. It is also marketed as a very good product for taken care of any after effects of stretch marks and as an intensive moisturizer, bath oil and protects the skin against ultraviolet rays.
Positives:
- It has a very pleasant fragrance
- It is very good for those with dry skin and the effects are visible under 24 hours of usage.
- It reduces all traces of stretch marks and spots.
- Reduces the redness of scars and lighten the skin.
Negatives:
- It is not well absorbed by the skin, because of its greasy nature.
- Too much perfume is used.

Our Conclusion:
Bio-Oil is specifically designed to treat scars and skin marks however some people have used it as a moisturizer due to its replenishing and smoothing properties. But its simply not an anti aging product. It doesn’t have the ingredients the top anti-agers do but it was never the aim for this particular product in the first place. It does it’s job well but it isn’t an anti-aging product.
